12:53 AM || so my family and i went to the mall to watch a movie. unfortunately, almost all of the movies' next showing were like, 2 hours later. so we went to the town center in hopes of finding a movie close to showtime. to my brother's likeness, the hot chick was about to show in 5 minutes. considering that he thinks he gets to choose for the rest of the family what we will be watching, the tickets for the hot chick were bought. surprisingly enough, the movie wasn't as bad as i expected it to be. there were times when i almost teared up because it was getting too mushy & romantic; similarly, there were some very funny moments in the movie, which made me laugh so much it almost made me cry. rob schneider's acting was pretty good. there were quite a few well-known people in the movie with small parts, such as adam sandler and tia & tamyra mowry. matthew lawrence was pretty good looking in the movie too. overall, i'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars. so enough about the movie. let's listen to joanna rant about something that's been brought up before.

as pammy said, it usually doesn't bother me either when people badmouth ASB or call us gAySB. it just annoys me when people start talking sh.t when they don't really know what's up. before i got elected to be in ASB this year, i would always hear people talking sh.t about ASB and how everything is based on popularity & whatnot. since i was always pretty involved person in school and ASB-sponsored activities, i would notice the things that other ignorant people would not; this would be the amount of time, preparation, and hard work it takes for an event to get accomplished. many people say that "ASB does jack for our school" or "ASB is a bunch of useless leaders controlled by the advisor mr. mac." correct me if i'm wrong, but is it not ASB who held meetings almost every day over the summer to plan out the activities throughout the school year? is it not ASB who sacrifices their time to wake up at 5 AM and stay late after school to provide the staff/faculty with heartening breakfasts/lunches? i dunno .. it just seems very superficial of people to say that "ASB does jack" when they don't know half of what we do.

and for everyone who thinks that ASB is some sort of elite organization who gets special benefits over other students -- that is not true at all. i will repeat what pamela said, in that we do still have to pay for our own ASB cards & dance tickets, despite what everyone else thinks. believe it or not, the only funds ASB really has is from selling the ASB packages at the beginning of the year & the ASB cards throughout the rest of the year. since this year, we didn't reach our goal of selling as many cards as we wanted, all of our budgets got cut down. so this means that we have less to spend on the events we put out. it's not like ASB is trying to profit from anything. we take every penny we receive and spend it back for the betterment of the student body (if you're complaining about how sucky the events are, then blame it on the student body for not buying their ASB packages/cards. LOL.)

oh and the popularity thing? personally, i can honestly say that i didn't know who more than a couple of the people elected into office were before ASB camp. if everyone was chosen based on popularity, then all of the cabinet members would have already known each other because popular people usually know other popular people. however, this was not the case for us. i can go on & on ranting about this, but i'm pretty tired from a long christmas day. maybe i'll decide to continue this some other time. to the haters, hate on if you want, but really -- people need to be so much more openminded about things rather than judging based on stereotypes. BAH! i need sleep.
